It is with regret and an abundance of caution that we are cancelling our April 6, 2020, Knitting Guild meeting. Our board has concurred with the recommendation for the following three reasons:
- Under a new policy issued by Gov. Newsom’s Department of Public Health, public events should be limited to no more than 250 people and should not proceed unless organizers could ensure at least 6 feet of distance between attendees. Gatherings of people who are at high risk of contracting the virus, which he defined as age 60 or older, should be kept to 10 or less.
- UCR Palm Desert has decided to close its facilities through Friday, April 3, or until further notice. Our meeting is on Monday, April 6, and there is no guarantee that our location will be available.
- We would like to make sure our members are safe and healthy and that we do not add to the risk of spreading this Corona virus.
We are planning to have our May meeting and will monitor events as we get closer.
Meanwhile we would like to jump-start our charity giving and encourage our members to make a couple of “blocks of the month” squares and bring them to the May meeting. At the bottom of the website page you can select ‘Block of the Month’ in the Categories drop down to filter the Block of the Month posts.
If you and others are traveling to your summer home before our May meeting, we would encourage you to drop off your squares to a member who is staying or to the Knit and Needle venue at 78115 Calle Estado, Ste. 101, in Old Town La Quinta.
Thanks for your understanding. We will be monitoring this situation and will keep you informed as it affects our guild.
