We have the following community projects:
Charity Squares
We provide a block of the month pattern that can be used to create squares for blankets or any pattern can be used to create the squares. Yarn for the squares can be picked up at the meetings or your own yarn can be used. Worsted weight washable yarn needs to be used.
Eleanor Hahn provides the designs for the block of the month. Raquel Harris collects the completed squares and distributes them to members to crochet them together. The completed blankets are distributed to Shelter of the Storm, a local domestic violence shelter. The shelter accepts hats, blankets and scarves.
Preemie hats
Helen Leonte collects preemie hats for Loma Linda and Desert Regional. Inquire at the meeting for patterns. Helen also organizes the charity yarn.
Kindergarten hats
Barbara Brown is collecting kindergarten hats.
Items for the military
Mary Ann Johnson collects items for people serving the military. Patterns for hats (that fit under helmets) and slippers can be found at http://www.theshipsproject.com.
Support for the USO
Ann Leiboh collects individually wrapped snacks, toiletries and knitted items for the USO.
