Our mission at Knitting Guild of the Desert is to promote and improve the craft of knitting and provide a welcoming and safe environment for knitter to share their work and build friendships. The Guild gives back to the community through philanthropic knitting projects. The Guild operates within the guidelines set by The Knitting Guild of America.
Guild Membership is open to any person interested in fiber arts of knitting and crocheting. We definitely encourage part time local residents to join us. Most of our meetings are accessible via Zoom so that our members may participate from remote locations.
Membership includes the following:
- Monthly guild meetings (Fees may be charged for special classes or visiting teachers.)
- Guild announcements and newsletters
- Access to the Guild patterns via the website
- 10% Discounts at participating area yarn shops
- Learning and sharing with other knitters
Meetings are generally held on the 1st Monday of every month. Meetings that occur from October through May are held in person at the UC Riverside-Palm Desert campus, 75080 Frank Sinatra Drive, Palm Desert, California. Meetings are also available via Zoom. Meetings that occur from May through September are conducted on Zoom only. For members who wish to participate via Zoom, the Zoom link is sent out the day before the meeting. Meeting facilities open at 9:00 a.m. for social time. Meetings start promptly at 9:30 a.m.
During the summer months when meetings are “Zoom-only”, we strive to have additional activities like field trips, to stay in touch and build camaraderie.
Our Guild year is January 1 through December 31 and annual membership dues of $40 cover one year.
