Upcoming meeting – August 6th

The meeting will take place on Monday the 6th of August at 9:30. Bring your show and share items and any items you may have for our community projects. The meeting will feature 4 SUMMER MINI’s classes.

The 30 minute classes below will be presented. Some yarn and crochet hooks will be provided, no need to buy anything new. Attendees can attend two classes. After 30 minutes we will rotate to another class. All patterns will be posted after the meeting if you want the patterns for a class you did not attend.

CLASS #1 – GARTER TAB STARTS FOR YOUR SHAWLS
Instructor – Andy Berisford

Materials: Needles size US 4 to 6 (3.5 to 4 mm) and fingering weight yarn. Or US 8 to 10 (5 to 6 mm) and worsted weight yarn. Or needles and yarn required for a pattern you want to make.

CLASS #2 – KNIT A TEDDY BEAR
Instructor – Helga Tinnerino

Bring any size yarn with appropriate needles for the yarn.  The yarn size determines your teddy’s size.  Big yarn, big teddy!  Small yarn, small teddy!

CLASS #3 – ILLUSION KNITTING
Instructor – Sandi Wollin

Supplies Needed:  Any SMOOTH yarn in any medium weight such as a light Worsted or Sport Weight of two contrasting colorsStitch markers are optional and should be thinner than the yarn being used. Waste yarn circles in a contrasting color works well. 1 pair of Straight (if possible) needles about 2 sizes smaller than you would normally choose for the weight of yarn. (Ex. If you would normally choose a US Size 9 needle, for Illusion you would use a US Size 7)
A blank piece of plain 8-1/2 x 11” paper and pen

Set-Up:
With Main Color Cast On 46 stitches (any style you like) – includes 3 selvedge stitches for each side as a border.
KNIT ALL (Garter Stitch) for 4 rows as the bottom border.

CLASS #4 – TUNISIAN CROCHET WASHCLOTH 
Instructor – Ann Oswald

Supplies:  Cotton worsted weight yarn – 2 coordinating yarn colors – Peaches and Cream yarn works well.  Size J crochet hook with a straight handle (non-ergonomic type) and a big rubber band to wrap around end of the handle as a stopper.  For learning the technique only, bring any yarn with appropriate size straight handle crochet hook and rubber band.
